Why have I come up with the Top 5 Healthy New Years Resolutions list and tips?
It’s another year gone by and another chance to make some healthy new years resolutions for your year ahead. An important thing is to keep it simple, achievable and real. How often have you made a new year resolution and it has not been followed through with because of the level of expectation on yourself? I know myself, it has happened before!
So I re visited some of my clients health issues that I have had over the past 3 years and also what I see on the media and social media as what is the main things people are suffering from and I thought it would be nice for me to share 5 Healthy New Years Resolutions tips that can help these things. If you try them for at least a month you may feel the benefits and may just totally embrace them and make them ‘your way’.
TOP 5 HEALTHY NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS TIPS
1 – GET MORE SLEEP!Aaaah sleeeeeeep! We all love our sleep and not many of us get enough of it! How much sleep are you getting on average per night? Do you think or feel that you get enough?
A good way of knowing is if you wake up feeling refreshed or not, if you are in a good mood or bad mood during the day, if you have dark circles under your eyes, if you yawn a lot or if you struggle with concentration.
We all know we are in a better mood when we get enough sleep. It really has an impact on our personality! Not only that, but it also helps us look fresher and younger in appearance, and who does not want that?
Sleep is very important for health in general. It helps mental health, our hormones to be more balanced, our liver has more time to rejuvenate while we sleep, we heal more while we sleep and a scary fact is that if you do not get enough sleep you are at higher risk of stress, anxiety, obesity and type 2 diabetes! Yes it is true!
So if you ask me, SLEEP is crucial for good health, so maybe try adding at least another hour on top of what you are having if you are having under 7 hours sleep per night.
IF YOU STRUGGLE WITH YOUR SLEEP-STAYING ASLEEP OR FALLING TO SLEEP TRY THIS –
A lot of my clients have had insomnia, sleep issues of all sorts and I have successfully helped them turn it around and have them sleeping like a restful happy baby within a few weeks after fasting. Here is the link to a detox program of mine that they did to achieve better sleep – https://innerconnect.com.au/programs/
A particular juice recipe that is good for relaxing the nerves tension and relaxing he body and mind for good sleep us this –
1 WHOLE ICEBERG LETTUCE
1 LARGE CUCUMBER
2 CELERY STICKS
1 SMALL PIECE OF FENNEL
1/4 GRAPEFRUIT OR LEMON
Have a litre of this juice in the afternoon as your afternoon sugar fix each day for at least a week, lighten your load in meals, eat more raw and see if your sleep starts to improve. If it doesn’t you may need to fast and clear out your bowels, for this can cause sleep issues if they are clogged up. Enjoy the juice and enjoy your sleep!
2 – DE-STRESS YOUR LIFEStress is a HUGE problem in our world so I must have it in my Top 5 Healthy New Years Resolutions list. Stress is everywhere you look. With our fast paced society that just wants to get faster and faster, it is not a surprise that more and more people are having heart attack, strokes, taking stress leave from work, experiencing anxiety attacks, sleep issues, heart disease and depression……and this is just naming a few of the health issues that caused by stress and I should also mention the rate of suicide rising like it never has before….
I would have to say that 99% of clients that I have coached have high stress and it has been that way for a long time………and something that comes out of their healing journey is that they have created that reality for themselves and they have the ability to un create it if they are willing to let go of some things. What are those things you ask?
Well firstly I have to share with you this reality –
YOU WILL HAVE TO LISTEN TO YOUR BODY ONE DAY!
IT DOES NOT LIKE STRESS AND CANT DO IT FOREVER WITHOUT GETTING SICK.
IT WILL SHUT DOWN. IT COULD BE SLOWLY OVER MANY YEARS OR ALL OF SUDDEN STRIKE YOU DOWN……
BUT THE REALITY IS, IT WILL LET YOU KNOW WHEN ENOUGH IS ENOUGH, YOU JUST HAVE TO LISTEN AND TAKE ACTION.
So what are those things I have helped my clients realise they could let go of to help them with their stress levels?
OK, here are just a few……..give up staying up late every night, un necessary screen time, cleaning the house so it is spotless ALL of the time, cooking for other adults in the house when they don’t really feel like eating or cooking themselves, let go of CONTROL, bad foods, coffee, alcohol, making excuses that they have no control over their life and their stress levels, being afraid of the sun, creating a lifestyle that requires them to work 80 hours per week and so much more…….
WE ARE THE CREATOR OF OUR STRESS.
OK, so you take these things away. What can you do instead?
Go to bed an hour earlier, read or find some other thing to pass your time other than screen time, be more social, spend time with more loved ones, if you don’t feel like cooking let the other adults in the house know you are not cooking and they can take care of themselves or cut up a fruit platter for all to eat including yourself.
Eat more wholesome plant based foods, drink a lot more water, enjoy a litre of home made juice each day, only have alcohol once per fortnight or less! Get at least 20 mins of sun each day, start meditation or yoga classes, stop making excuses and re design your work life balance to what really works for you and if that means giving up some materialistic things to achieve a week with less work hours maybe this is what you will enjoy more……
To gain good health requires very conscious and thoughtful decisions each and everyday…..to live with less stress takes this practise.
3 – DONT BE AFRAID TO SAY YOU WANT TO LOSE WEIGHT AND TAKE ACTION ON IT.Unfortunately there is a stigma that if you want to lose weight it means you do not love yourself. I say the complete opposite! If you are not comfortable in your body and you are suffering and you know it is because you are carrying extra weight, it takes love to decide its time to commit and lose it. In doing this and following it through you may gain relief from physical stress, freedom from the mental effort of carrying it, more self esteem, more energy, more clarity in who you truly are, feel happier with your level of self care, feel more self love, feel safer in your own body in regards to not developing disease and so much more.
OBESITY IS AN EPIDEMIC AND IT IS OUT OF CONTROL.
It is a fact that obesity is an epidemic! It is one the highest leading causes of heart disease, diabetes, stroke, stress, depression, cancer, high blood pressure, gall stones, breathing problems and the list can go on forever on what obesity can cause the body to create and do.
It is alarming to know that 64% of Australian adults are either over weight or obese! That is almost 2 in every 3 adults. The medical world generally defines ‘overweight’ as a condition in which a persons weight is 10-20% higher than ‘normal’, as defined by a body mass index of (BMI) of 25 to 30. Now this can be different for some and I am not putting us all in the same basket, but there is a reality that obesity IS rising and fast and it is scary.
Now I have been over weight. I have felt what it is like to carry extra weight, what it does to the rest of my body and also my mind. So when someone tells me they want to lose weight, even if they look ok to me I am open and accepting of their choice, knowing they are making the decision because they most likely do not feel comfortable.
ONLY WE KNOW HOW WE TRULY FEEL IN OUR OWN BODY…..
HOW DO YOU REALLY FEEL?
So how can you lose weight without slogging it out at the gym feeling under more stress and hurting all over? My answer is always going to be FASTING. Fasting can be done at all levels. It can be done a few days per week, it can be done for a period of time in each 24 hour period, it can be done for days at a time or even weeks at a time!
98% of my clients have lost significant amounts of weight through juice fasting and have kept it off. It is also about taking more control of what you eat and how you eat and also giving up the story of ‘I can’t do this, it’s too hard”.
What you can’t do, is go another year carrying around the extra weight, causing so much stress on your body and mind and expect to have no repercussions. Ignoring this calling from your body may cost you your life slowly bit by bit or all of sudden! And I know you may not want this.
So forget about the stigma, embrace yourself, love yourself and do what your body has been waiting for you to do and feel yourself rise and feel incredibly light, relieved and excited about life again. It’s not about ‘not loving yourself’ it is about LOVING YOURSELF. And it’s not about slogging it out at the gym, it can be a gentle process through food choices and fasting.
4 – WORK ON RELATIONSHIPS – CREATE CONNECTION AND LOVE.Do you ever feel like you are alone at times? Or do you feel like you are surrounded by people but your connection with them is not really very deep and its all just surface chatter you have with them? Maybe it’s time to make more time for relationships. Be conscious of who you spend time with, what type of energy and conversations are they creating with you. Do you leave them feeling good or bad or nothing at all……it is important to connect with people that you enjoy being around and that help you be a better version of yourself.
Did you know that people that have strong social connections are more likely to live longer? In a 2010 study in a journal PLoS medicine shows that lack of social connections can damage your health as much as alcohol abuse and smoking!
We are a being, that is filled with emotions……..and being alone can be quite depressing for a lot of us. The feeling of being alone too long can create negative energy in ones feelings and thoughts with insecurity, loneliness, depression, anxiety, lack of ambition, rejection, not good enough, nervous tension and more.
Being connected to others that help us feel loved, accepted, safe, wanted, happy and connected helps our sex hormone levels stay balanced, our adrenals to be calm, our serotonin levels to stay up, our dopamine levels to stay balanced and we actually feel healthier when all of theses things in our body are functioning well. It can completely change us a person when these things go out of balance.
So if you are feeling a little dis connected or alone, think about who you like to be around and pick up the phone to connect and make the time to see then in person!
5 – SPEND TIME OUTSIDE, MOTHER NATURE AWAITS YOU!Our cheapest and MOST AVAILABLE health source is Mother Nature! We can at any time go outside and benefit from all of the life and health giving sources she has to offer. So what has she got that we need so badly and that you can have for free that will greatly benefit you?
Are you using these free health remedies as much as you really could be?
AIR – Fresh air helps strengthen your lungs, supplies you with oxygen that is necessary for all of your organs to function. It helps cleanse your blood and also keeps you alive! Take the time to STOP AND BREATHE!
SUN – Provides you with light that stimulates your glands, helps to balance hormones, helps raise serotonin levels to combat depression, supplies natural vitamin D, makes you feel more energetic and keeps you alive! 20 mins of sun each day can seriously help keep the doctor away!
FRESH WATER – Hydrates all of your organs to keep them active and healthy, slows the process of ageing down, hydrates your brain for better functioning, promotes weight loss, flushes out toxins, aids digestion, boosts immune system and keeps you alive! Try to not drink tap water, it is riddled with toxins. Try to have well filtered water or bottled.
OCEAN – Relives stress, calms the mind, helps clear skin and sinus issues, provides magnesium, potassium and calcium through absorbing the ocean water through your skin, provides a negative charge that helps to detox the body, helps heal scars, eases body aches and pains and keeps the earth alive! Take the time to go and experience the ocean….you will feel a difference in your wellbeing.
TREES – They produce oxygen for us to breath which relieves stress and promotes more activity. Trees create stronger feelings of belonging, create calm in the mind, inspire us to share, inspire us to connect with others, provide us with shade and inspire some to dream and imagine. Maybe its time you hug a tree?
DIRT – If it is not chemically contaminated, dirt can play a major role in bringing beneficial bacterias into our body.
From the age of around 6 months, babies need more iron and this is not met through the mothers milk, so going back in time…..this is when we would crawl around in the dirt and at times put the dirt in our mouth (something that some would be horrified of letting their child do now). This would then bring in naturally occurring iron and good bacterias into the baby.
Our moods can improve, digestive system can improve, our immunity can strengthen and stress levels can drop when we simply come in contact with dirt! Dirt also has a negative charge in it that also helps us to detoxify and there are specific types of muds, like ‘bentonite clay’, that we can take orally that helps draw out all positive charges (toxins) from our digestive system.
So don’t be afraid, GET DIRTY!
